The removal is (intended to be) permanent.

Hi Strobe fans...

Effective at 6 PM ET tonight, THE STROBE will be a part of our ONLINE SERVICE only. You will be able to hear it at www.sirius.com and www.xmradio.com. You will also be able to hear it on your favorite mobile device with the Sirius XM mobile apps. The Strobe will no longer be available on satellite.

Channel 81 on Sirius will be the new home of our Jam_On channel.

If you are an XM subscriber, please check out XM 64 The GROOVE, which will begin playing classic dance and disco along with it's usual funk as of tonight.

Deney Terio has moved to the 70s on 7. You can hear Deney Terio's Saturday Night Party Fever on Sirius and XM 7 from 9 PM-3 AM ET starting tomorrow night.

From everyone at Sirius XM and The Strobe, we want to thank you for supporting classic dance and disco over the years, and we hope you will continue to support it online with the most disco hits on The Strobe.

First they removed the channel before the Strobe, to replace it with the Strobe (crappier IMHO) to now remove it completely? That merger has been nothing but bad business. Bring back all my favorite stations before the merge....Fred XM for one.

That's the one, Chrome. It played many club cuts from the early 80's. Strobe was just boring, very few club cuts if any.

As for Fred XM, they played more variety than what 1st Wave plays. It seems like it's always the same songs over and over like Echo and the Bunnyman.

On Fred, I used to hear obscure songs like Thomas Dolby's "One of our submarines".

Like I wrote before, that merger was nothing but crap. XM was good the way it was. Now, it's watered down big time.

We don't even have the odd Christmas channel anymore that played songs like "Grandma got run over by a reindeer" or "I saw Daddy tickle Santa Clause". :(

The Strobe was one of my 10 presets...big surprise today when the channel was gone. I have replaced it with the Groove.

I was a subscriber for a couple of years and cancelled about 6 months after the merge. As part of the merge I lost Beyond Jazz - a big favourite. I got sick of the repetition on so many of the channels. I finally had enough when the DJs started yacking over the beginnings of the songs - I can get that on commercial radio for free.

I missed XM for a couple of months, and still miss it from time to time, but I keep remembering that it's not worth it for $15/month.
