I have the web6000Q extender from Telus and it has an issue with dropping the 5Ghz signal every day or two. I have to unplug and plug in extender for it to re-establish the connection. I have called telus and they said to reset it and re name the ssid for extender. This has not worked and I am wondering if anyone else has had this issue.

Telus is aware of this issue and a firmware upgrade to fix it is in the work. Your best bet is to use the 2.4Ghz band for the time being.

In general, wireless extenders perform very poorly. If you're extending your network by running a Ethernet (or even powerline) connection to a second access point, that works very well. But wireless extenders, when tested, perform very poorly.

My WEB6000 extender is connected via Ethernet.

It has been working very well except for the annoying 5GHz drops.

Good to know that there is a fix for that in the works.

I have mine hooked up the same way as you and it is working fine except for said 5ghz drops and the occasional freeze of connection (30 secs).

Where did you hear about the fix? Do know of the time frame for this fix. Great news, otherwise I have been satisfied with the extender.

Called TELUS about the issue on Saturday and they sent someone out this morning. They gave me a new web6000q, hope this one does the trick or else i might look into buying one myself.

It is still doing the same thing as the old one. 5Ghz dropped today.

With the given labels. I tried with different label for the 5G, but it did the same thing.

New firmware (1.1L.02.21) on the WEB6000Q extender will resolve:

- Customer device is connected to the extender, but is unable to access the Internet (no data flow)
- VPN drops, traffic stops over 5G
- 5G channel changes, 5G connection drops
- WPS LED continually flashes

The firmware is available already and will update via HDM. You can also factory reset the extender to initiate the upgrade.

Got the update and it worked like a charm. 2 weeks and going without a problem.

Getting one of these included with Internet 50 upgrade along with bonded Actiontec T2200H. Extender seems a little overkill for my condo however...guess I can tell the technician to just leave it behind in the box.

WiFi must be pretty subpar with the Actiontec's to be giving these things out...sounds like the lack of dual-band is a big sore point.

I have the wifi extender because the T1200H doesn't have the 5G band. It's performing very well right now. I also have Internet 50, not bonded though.
