Optik TV, Telus' Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) service, has recently updated the firmware that powers its digital television receivers to Microsoft Mediaroom 2.02.
Digital Home readers have complemented Telus on some of the new features, such as the ability to record programs from secondary digital terminals, however many complain about a substantial decline in picture quality.
Readers reporting the picture quality problem say that since the update, the black levels are closer to grey and the problems appear to be most pronounced when connected via the HDMI connections. Users of the component connection don't seem to be suffering as greatly from the issue.
Telus TV owners who have phoned the company to complain say the company is investigating the issue.
