New Channels always generate a lot of discussion so this thread is for discussing new channels in 2010.

You're welcome to speculate and discuss new channels coming to Telus in 2010 but PLEASE unless it's been confirmed by an official press release, be clear about what is speculation and what is fact.

A post saying "a CSR said it was coming" is NOT official, however, it does put it in the "highly" likely category.

If its posted on the CRTC site that its been approved by the CRTC but Star Choice has not said anything, I would consider that in the "not very likely at this time" category.

New HD channels

I noticed some new channels in the guide today:

- Speed HD (669) appeared in the guide, and seems to be a free preview for now.
- APTN HD (616), the PVR tells me I'm not subscribed, but I assume it should part of the essentials?
- Also there is "CityTv Van H" (614) in the guide, no programming info, and not subscribed. Must be a mistake since that channel is not broadcasting OTA HD in Vancouver yet, right?

As a big fan of soccer, I note that Fox Sports World will soon be broadcasting in HD. Sure hope this means that Fox Sports World Canada will do the same, and an even bigger hope that Telus will add the HD channel to the line up.

That's one thing that has bugged me about Telus for the last few months. How come when new channels are added I have to call to have them added to my account.
If these channels are part of my package can't they just be automatically added?
I never had to call Rogers to get new channles which were added as a part of my package

I'm just hoping for more when the new program guide comes out.

The new channels are nice, but not enough for my taste. I'm not a sports guy, and a good part of the new channel so far are sports. Golf and Car Racing? Not my thing.

NEW PVR

Hey is there a new PVR for Telus TV:

Create your own TELUS TV package from $28/mo.
Build your own personalized TV package, starting with the Essentials at just $28 a month. Then add theme packs and individual channels.

Now's the time.
Sign up on any term and get†:

1 FREE month of over 195 channels including the Essentials, 15 theme packs, Setanta, Super Channel, and 6 movie channels
1 FREE month of your HD theme packs
Professional installation included
24/7/365 technical support
Sign up on a 3 year term and also get†:
1 FREE HD PVR rental
It all adds up to total retail value of over $600.

This add seems to suggest recording up to three programs simultaneously, I presume this means watch one and record another?

I only have one TV so I hope this is correct.

^ You can do one of the following:
- Watch 3 different live TV programs
- Record 1 live program on your PVR and watch 2 other live programs
- Record 2 live programs on your PVR and watch a third live program
- Record 3 live programs on your PVR

Better yet, you can watch up to 2 of the 3 available live TV programs in HD and the rest in standard definition (SD) and if you have 2 or more TVs tuned to the same live TV program you’ll only be using 1 live TV feed.

With your TELUS TV PVR, while the live TV feeds are being used to watch or record live programs, you can watch up to 4 recorded programs on your other TVs. Viewing a recorded program does not use a live TV feed as it is stored on your PVR.

Hope this helps, for more info, go to:
