I was advised by text that there were intermittent problems with my internet, so I called, and spent a couple of hours trying to understand the foreign help desk as they followed their script.
Determined I need a tech visit.

Here's the kicker. I can have a visit almost any day but the initial window is 8am to 5pm. So we are now expected to spend a day waiting for them to show and if we aren't there when they show we pay $200.

Customer service??!!

why not choose a day for your appointment that you will be home on like your day off maybe? that way you do not have to "waste" it, you can be home cooking, cleaning, feeding the kids, vacuuming, doing laundry, and if the doorbell rings and it's the technician you can let them in to do their work. Try not to complicate things, life is not that difficult.

Switched from Telus Mobility to Bell yesterday but think I'm going to keep my ipad ablet with Telus as soon as I switched out my main mobility number they offered a better deal on my tablet plan with lots of data for cheap. It's that plus to pay off the tablet in full is nore then what i want to do at this time but I may keep Telus for that.
Never had the option here to go beyond a mobility plan.

And yes appointments can be hard i find it difficult myself to find time with working and daily life. Companies need to understand this and be fair.

People should not just look at only the price when shopping for an internet provider, they should also look at how reliable the provider is, how easy they are to contact, and how flexible they are for repair appointments etc. Most people just simply look at price and ignore the other factors.

Oh that's right, I forgot about self installations, but this sounds like a service call, so that would not apply in this instance, unless the phone technicians have a for sure way of identifying a faulty modem remotely and can ship that out, but this problem sounds like it needs a tech.

Ok so I am unreasonable. I am retired so should be happy to stick around but I like to sleep in like until noon sometimes and get tired of going out to put the garbage out at 7:30 AM and have it picked up at 1Pm sometimes!! Yes, I have never had a 9 hour window before. Usually 2 hours or maybe 3 and the last tech visit was absolutely great. I got to choose after 12 and she came and did more than what was required. It was a visit because they wanted to upgrade my equipment but she also upgraded some other stuff inside and "improved" a cable I had(replaced the end). TBH my wife gets edgy when there is someone coming in and it affects me so I like to know when it is happening and that cuts down the "blood pressure" time. Better for my repaired and sometimes afib heart!
Thanks for letting me vent. No problems happening right now so I will leave it at no visit.
Actually the lack of English on the phone irritated me a lot but I may have heard that they now have automated systems that report unexplained anomalies to be checked and I wonder if my powering down the system every night at 4AM is causing the alerts. I do this because we sometimes have lost the internet connection and it only comes back on a reboot. When in California it is hard to do a reboot.....and the cameras are down if not done. No more California but possibly somewhere else! :)

This is actually a big problem with society no not everyone is on the same time sxhedule as someone else. I work 5-10 PM sometimes and then have to wait for a bus because im visually impaired because of a non cancerous brain tumour i had years ago that prssed up on my optic nrrve and i needed life saving surgery. I wake up at 9 AM every day but sometimes these people think I should somehow be up by 7. No I have good reasons and companies need to respect your time table. And if someone is retired that is great that you contributed to society and now you can get up at any time you feel comfortable wirh. Retiring is meant to enjoy life too. Man these companies.
