Bell Media’s Team 1040 (CKST) radio station and the Vancouver Canucks announced this week a new brpadcast deal which gives the station radio rights to all Canucks games through to the 2016-17 season. The all sports radio station has been the home of the Canucks Radio Network since 2006.

Team 1040’s Canucks coverage is led by play-by-play broadcaster John Shorthouse and Rick Ball, along with analyst and former NHLer Dave Tomlinson.

Now that this deal is signed, it clears the way for Bell to rebrand the station as TSN Radio 1040. I think they had been holding off pending a new deal being signed.

A little surprised. Expected Rogers to make a big move on these rights. They have the TV rights and the arena naming rights already, would have been a good fit.

Also, not sure they are in such a rush to rename the station. The minute they do, Don Taylor's done and do they want to risk losing him so soon after parting ways with Pratt?
