With the playoffs about to start I just wanted to start a thread on this as the subject gets brought up every year. I'm not sure which providers will air the U.S Commercials this year, so please post it so everyone will enjoy them when it comes time. thanks.

Very rural Newfoundlander here on Shaw Direct the ctv feed would take over Spokane west feed but the east feeds would remain on Detroit so I always got the ad's, this is my first year with eastlink cable but the HD east & west feeds did not get simsubed during the regular season so I am hopeful.:p

Cogeco in the Windsor area finally stopped sim-subbing last year so we've been free for over a year now.

Well it seems to me after watching both playoff games yesterday, and the start of the pregame show today that CTV is simsubbing both the CBS and NBC feeds which makes me believe that Cogeco in Burlington will not show the US commercials.

Superbowl 45 and US Feed

Hello all,

Has there been an official announcement regarding whether Videotron will carry the US or Canadian feed in HD for the upcoming Superbowl? Last I read, CTV Montreal was about to launch their local signal prior to the game thus forcing Videotron to sim-sub the game w/ CTV's feed.

Cheers, K

Exactly. I guess I don't see what the deal is either.

Unless you are hosting a SB party and its part of the appeal ..

Ok, I just convinced myself it's important.

Never mind

Usually at my annual SB party we're divided into 2 groups...men and women. Men like the football and women like the commercials. If it werent for the commercials, the ladies wouldn't let my friends come over.

Cheers, K!

That isn't true. On Shaw Direct you get a clean US feed unless you live in the GTA area for HD. Many areas can get the standard def version not simsubbed too (for example, the Maritimes outside of Halifax). Same with Shaw Cable in HD outside of the Vancouver and Calgary areas.

In Ottawa on Rogers we should have the commercials on the HD channel since none of the networks have a local transmitter and as such they are not allowed to simsub.
I expect it to be the same here in London as well.

West feed will be Sim-Subed and East feed will not (as per last year and previous games this season).

Yes, as NBJosh has pointed out, anyone living outside of Toronto will be able to see the US feed on Fox HD with Shaw Direct satellite service. For the SD feeds, the more rural you are, the more likely you won't see a simsub (for Shaw Direct).

For Bell TV (ExpressVu) viewers, the US feed will be hijacked by CTV across the board. No matter how rural you are or whether you watch the HD or SD feed. Cable users are a bit more iffy, it really depends on how far you live from the nearest CTV SD or HD transmitter.
