Canadians eager to pay for their Starbucks coffee using their smartphones now have an Android app to make that happen.
Basically, you just download the app, enter your Starbucks Card number, scan and go.
Starting July 11th, customers in the UK and Canada will also be able to use the app to locate stores, load up their card, check their balance and reward status, plus add in a PIN code for protection.
"The expansion of our mobile payment footprint to two of our most important markets is a strong milestone for us, but more importantly, it extends the number of customers who now have a faster and easier way to pay at Starbucks," said Adam Brotman, chief digital officer at Starbucks Coffee Company.
Extending services to Canada and the UK brings Starbucks’ mobile payments to 14,000 store locations worldwide.
Starbucks announced that US customers who download or update to the official Starbucks app for Android will now enjoy PayPal support, PIN code protection, and be able to view the My Starbucks Rewards history dashboard.
The Starbucks app for Android is now available on Google Play (https://play.google.com), and is available for mobile phones running Android 2.2 or above.
