Sportsnet One are negotiating with other cable/satellite companies. SNO was just announced so expecting that every cable/satellite to get it right from the start is stupid when they have to negotiated terms to get it.

Other distributors will be announced at a later date

Shaw Direct will announce that they will carry SNO so Shaw will follow suit

If you believe the "hard negotiations" then we have a few bridges in New York for sale. Frankly I have little or no interest in this channel but am concerned about the launching by Rogers as the bean counters continue their march to the profit margins. Just another great thing from consolidation and vertical integration.

If I subscribe to MLB Extra Innings, will Bell provide the Blue Jays games from Sportsnet One or the opposing team feed? Seems ridiculous that we get every other MLB game except The Jays...

no... they will not as Toronto Blue Jays are an inmarket team, therefore EI anywhere in Canada will never show on Extra Innings. Its not EI's fault, it is the Blackout and TV contracts that MLB created.

For what it's worth, I contacted BellTV and asked if they are carrying SportsNet One. The CS rep said they might in the near future. Not a whole lot of specifics. ;) I guess we can sit tight and see if they include it in one of the sports packages, or ala carte.

Sportsnet 1 just another way to loose support

We have been loyal viewers and supporters of the Blue Jays since inception of the team in 1977. We have attended games in Dunedin, Old Exhibition Stadium and the Sky Dome/ Rogers Centre and have purchased many Blue Jay items to help support the team. So, we are baffled by the decision to take away a number of Blue Jay telecasts thus excluding us and many other Canadian Blue Jay fans from watching and cheering for our favourite team. We are Cogeco subscibers in the Detroit Tiger market area, and there is no way to pick up Rogers cable in our area so we are out of luck even if we wanted to purchase the Sportsnet 1 package and we have been Rogers Wireless clients for almost 20 years as well. This decision makes no sense from a marketing standpoint because we can't watch the sponsors who provide the Jays broadcasts so obviously we cannot receive news concerning their products. In conclusion we hope you rethink your strategy or you may find yourselves losing many loyal fans, viewers and other product subscribers.

The fact that the Blue Jay games are no longer available to be watched a little past mid stream of the season on any channel if you are a Bell TV subscriber, shows the poor management as usual for both Bell TV and Sportsnet for allowing this possibilty to happen.
I suppose they think this is a good business decision but to me it is a normal poor Canadian business practice.
Our country could be so much further ahead if we didn't have idiots running our companies.

Welcome to the new way of negotiating carriage: Launch a new station, shift preferred programming to said station, and watch BDU customers revolt...thus generating better "negotiation" results for the station.

Only this time I believe it's backfired on Rogers....

737: Respectfully, you're missing the point. Even if the new channel is included in existing packages with Bell, we as fans are still made to go through this process. We're still being held "hostage" as a negotiation tactic. And that's just plain wrong.

And if the "negotiation" tactic works (non-Rogers customers pressure their BDU into a quick settlement), we end up paying more in the end.

Ok, this really sucks. First of all a national sports channel vs regional channels notwithstanding , Sportsnet doesn't fill it's existing channels with sports to begin with, so another channel taking away the existing ones from the channels we do get just sucks more.

Already the mornings are 6 hours of the same 30 minute highlight/news show. Afternoons have poker (which is NOT A SPORT & while I like poker it should be on a game channel or some other specialty channel) and now movies instead of sports. It is even worse, just give me sports on my sports channels. If I want movies I will watch movies, I go to RSN & TSN to watch sports.

No need for new tv channels just use the ones we already have.

I guess Bell TV Subscribers who want to watch blue jay games that are now on sportsnet one are now going have to watch the games on channel 959 The Fan.
I hope nobody complains about the picture quality on channel 959.
