Sony's latest lineup of 4K XBR LED TVs are available in Canada in 55-inch and 65-inch models.
Offering four times the resolution of full HDTVs, the 55-inch XBR-55X9900A and the 65-inch XBR-65X900A retail for $5,499.99 and $7,699.99, respectively.
Sony is quick to point out that the unique Triluminos Display delivers all colours naturally and accurately, including difficult blues, greens and reds.
Daniel Phillips, Director of TV Marketing at Sony Canada, adds: "4K BRAVIA Ultra-High Definition TVs allow consumers to feel the beauty in their living rooms with a picture that's four times clearer than regular TV. Our TVs deliver a vibrant and natural picture that is four times clearer than high definition. As for content, these new sets enhance all of the video people are watching today."
Since content is definitely on the minds of viewers when expensive TV purchases are made, several movie titles in Canada have been re-mastered in 4K, including: The Amazing Spider-Man, Angels and Demons, Battle: Los Angeles, Ghostbusters, Glory, The Karate Kid, The Other Guys, Spider-Man 1, Taxi Driver, and Total Recall.
The new 4K models also bring a welcome 65-watt front-facing, magnetic fluid speaker system, as well as full HD 3D that works with passive glasses, plus WiFi, which includes access to Sony's own suite of entertainment services.
And customers should definitely jump on the complimentary installation package valued at $400 for 4K UHD TV units ordered via Sony Store retail locations or the Sony Canada Call Centre (1.888.289.SONY option 1, then 6) before May 31, 2013.
