I have a bunch of movies on my computer in .avi format and am trying to play them on my KDLZ5100 through the USB input. Does anyone know what video file format the KDL series will read?

According to the specs the USB port will support the following.

Music Player (mp3), Photo Viewer (jpeg), Video Player (mpeg2 TS)

I'm not sure if the USB port could simply be used as another input from say a computer. Most times people connect a USB stick, which "passively" contains the files that the TV then "plays".

If you wish to play something from the computer, you usually use one of the other inputs - HDMI, composite, etc., depending on the output capabilities of the computer.

Thanks for the response. I am just trying to play the video via a USB stick containing the files....
