And this is just the beginning.

The biggest gain will be the introduction of depth of field to the camcorder world, something that was seriously lacking, and which is still a major sore point with most serious videographers.

The NEX-VG10 specifications state
Video Mode : AVCHD: 1920 x 1080/ 60i (FX/FH); FX- 24Mbps, FH - 17Mbps; 1440x1080/60i HQ -9 Mbps
I guess Sony's not being progressive with this product (pun intended). They also advertize it as a movie/still camera but though it supports AdobeRGB 1998 & sRGB it has no RAW mode only JPEG fine.

No mention of MAC support either for the bundled software.

Nikon I suspect is moving in a similar direction as they have announced a "mirrorless" DSLR (well it can't be a "R" without a mirror)
