UK-based Spotify announced this week that its streaming music service will be soon be available to Sonos customers in Finland, France, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden and the UK.
Although Spotify won’t be available to North American audiences, the announcement was noteworthy to Sonos users on this side of the Atlantic because the company said the service would be introduced along with Sonos Software Version 3.3.
"Spotify on Sonos has been the number one request from our European customers and we're thrilled to deliver it," said John MacFarlane, Founder and CEO Sonos, Inc.
No word yet on when the Spotify service may be available to users in Canada and the United States and no word yet on what other features Sonos users may find in the Version 3.3 update.
To use the service, Sonos users overseas will be required to sign up for a Spotify Premium subscription which will 9.99 pounds Sterling per month, about $16 a month Canadian.
