Sonos, makers of wireless music systems for the home, announced today the release of Sonos System Software 3.3 along with its long overdue Sonos Controller for iPad application.

The new firmware includes support for AAC radio stations and the Spotify streaming music service in Europe. The update is also required for Window Media Server users on this side of the Atlantic.

Sirius XM Satellite radio users in the United States will also need to update to the latest firmware in order to continue to listen to the subscription satellite radio service through Sonos. Unfortunately for Canadians, the Sirius Canada radio service is still not available.

For iPad owners, Sonos has released an app that provides much of the same functionality as what you'll find in Sonos’ popular iPhone app but is optimized for the iPad's large touch screen.

Features of the new Sonos app, which turns your app into a dedicated music controller, include the ability to: view and search your music library; select and view music playing in the various zones in your Sonos music setup; group your Sonos zones into party, view album art, elapsed time of a song, and more.

The seven megabyte app is now available for free from the iTunes Canada store.
