Hi there,

For the last day or so, the following channels have been out for me here in Oxford.

105 SNET 1
106 SNET SENS (usually a test pattern)
131 Playhouse Disney
132 Teletoon Retro
198 TCM
199 AMC

All I see is a message saying "One moment please, this channel should be available shortly" on all my digital boxes.

I called Eastlink and they are sending a tech out, but it will be a few days.

That error message usually means low signal strength. Maybe the recent thaw in the weather has affected the lines to my house in some way. But it seems strange that it is only happening to the channels most recently added to the system.

Is anyone else seeing these problems? The closest person to me on this forum is leaffan up in Amherst.

Thanks leaffan,

I guess I should talk to one of my neighbours to see if they are having the same problem.

I bypassed the splitter to increase the signal to 1 box, but the channels were still out.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but this happened again today. The following channels were out:

105 SNET 1
106 SNET Sens
130 DXD Canada
131 Disney Jr Canada
132 Teletoon Retro
134 CBS Sports
143 Bite TV
197 FX Canada
198 TCM Canada
199 AMC Canada
271 CBC Montreal
294 AUX TV
379 HISTOIRE
386 Super Ecran

I called up Eastlink and they had it fixed within a couple of hours. Must have been a messed up channel map change (again). The amazing thing is that I spent zero time on hold. It rang and someone picked up right away. Usually its less than 2 minutes, but this was great.

TMC

Hi

Last night i lost the TMC channel (668) around 10pm. The movie Cardinal was listed in the guide. i was not getting the movie- just a black screen. the SD channel was working with a different show playing.
I called tech support and was told that they did not have the rights for that movie and they subbed another show for SD but not HD.
I am curious if this happens with other providers. and why do they have the rights to all the other movies and not this one ? why couldn't they sub in something else on HD as they did with SD ?

It is true, maritimer555, that TCM has not obtained the Canadian broadcast rights for all programming broadcast on the HD version of their channel.(They would have to pay extra for this from the program suppliers, and have not chosen to do so) Although it does not happen frequently, blackouts do take place in these instances.

This happens with all providers, and they are not permitted to broadcast the programming. When I was with Bell, there was normally a notice on the programming guide that said, "Blackout in effect".

It's funny though that TCM doesn't show any true HD films on their HD channel, there all upconverts so I do not understand why certain movies are blacked out on TCMHD since the movies are not HD transfers.

I, too, have been experiencing some strange channel outages in the past two days, as many as 5 HD channels at a time, and at other times, only one or two. There is no error message, simply a plain, black screen. For example, this AM, I noticed MPIX HD, HBO Canada East HD, SunNews HD, and I didn't check for others(but I am sure there were indeed others), and a little later, some channels did come back on, but HBO Canada East is still out. Yesterday, there were other channels out, including TCM HD, AMC HD, and Superchannel 2 HD that were missing. It just seems odd to see this totally at random. My understanding, if there is a signal quality issue, is that I should get a message, "this channel will be available shortly".

I live in west end Halifax, btw, and am curious as to whether other customers are similarly affected.
