Skins, the North American adaptation of the edgy U.K. series, begins Monday, January 17 at 9 p.m. PT on Movie Central and 10 p.m. ET on The Movie Network.

The series is directed by Canadian directors Scott Smith (Call Me Fitz) and Samir Rehem (Testees), and features an ensemble cast that includes six Canadians in leading roles.

Skins is a high-definition production.

Overview of the British Skins

Skins is a British teen drama that follows a group of teenagers in Bristol, South West England, through the two years of sixth form. The controversial plot line explores issues such as dysfunctional families, mental illness (including eating disorders), sexual orientation identity, substance abuse and death. The show was created by father and son television writers Bryan Elsley and Jamie Brittain for Company Pictures, and premiered on E4 on 25 January 2007.
