On May 4th, the Sirius XM channel line-up will be changing so many of the channels you listen to will have a new new channel number.

The channel numbers are being changed so stations are grouped together based on their genre or content type. Sirius XM says the changes will make it much simpler and easier to navigate through the lineup and quickly find what you want to hear—and to discover other programming you might also enjoy.

In addition, the channel numbers will now be the same whether you have a Sirius or an XM radio.

on May 4th, your radio will need about five minutes to update the channel numbers after you first turn on the power. During this time, the audio you hear may not match what is shown on your display and you may see messaging such as "updating channels" or "acquiring signal" on your radio's display.

Customers are advised to let the update complete before changing changing as this will delay the update from being completed. Presets should be updated as the preset buttons should automatically 'follow' any channels that you've preset to their new locations.

Other changes include:

  • "Sirius Left" and XM's "America Left" will become "SiriusXM Left," on SiriusXM Channel 127.
  • "Willie's Place" has joined forces with "The Roadhouse" to become "Willie's Roadhouse," on SiriusXM Channel 56. "Willie's Roadhouse" will feature music from Willie Nelson, along with other classic country artists like Merle Haggard, George Jones, Patsy Cline, Buck Owens and more.

Now there's a dedicated home for "pop up" channels on the SiriusXM satellite radio lineup.

Channel 18 is now "SiriusXM Limited Engagements," the new home for our unique and exclusive 'pop-up' channels featuring music, comedy, talk and more.

New Channels

In addition to "20 on 20," XM radios will now receive "SiriusXM Hits 1". This popular channel was previously available only on Sirius radios and XM Radio

For Sirius and XM radios, "SiriusXM Limited Engagements" on Channel 18 will be the new, dedicated home for our unique and exclusive 'pop-up' channels featuring music, comedy, talk and more.

The Channels can't be exactly the same as XM as its old agreement with Clearchannel in the US and it has the major league Baseball contract exclusively as MLB wont allow it to air games on Sirius. Sirius has a TV contact with Chryslar as well.

from looking at the Sirius Canada lineup we are finally getting 20's on 20 back but still no love for the strobe i cannot find it on any of the lists yet (this channel seems to have a cult like following). seems easier on the company making all the channels the same on both and grouping all the station from the best of packages. i just hope here in Canada they will be offering the best of package soon. and i hope this means they will finally update the channel names on the sat radios.

I highly doubt it. Check the Terms of Service on the XM site.

I like what I listen to BUT they should try and keep everything as one. Having both names/lineups is very confusing for the customer. I am even confused having had XM and Sirius over the years. I have no idea what channels I am suppose to get and don't get. Luckily I got a good one year deal from the US Sirius.
