Subscription satellite radio provider, Sirius XM has announced plans to launch an Android smartphone App for subscribers to go along with its iPhone and Blackberry smartphone apps.

Through the free application, Sirius XM Premium online subscribers can access over 120 stations at no additional charge. Some select programming including NFL Play-by-Play, Nascar Radio, and Howard Stern, is not available.

The premium online service costs $2.99/month if a consumer already has a traditional satellite-radio subscription.

In addition to have the ability to listen to Sirius XM channels on their Android phone, the application gives users the ability to maintain a list of favourite channels and view what is playing on all other available channels via the "lookaround" function.

No word yet from Sirius Canada on when the new application might be available in this country.
