Simultaneous recording and 'live TV'

I recently purchased a 9241 PVR and was previously assured by various Bell 'experts' that I could record 2 seperate programs and watch a third program simultaneously. If I do this, as soon as I try to view the live TV, I get an error 015 or 002, and the only way out is to do a cold boot.
On thinking about this, surely, this would require 3 tuners which the 9241 PVR does not have.
So to prove the point, I set up the schedule to record a program on one channel at 9:00pm, and at 9:02pm I opted to whach another channel. As soon as I selected the channel, the 015 error signal appeared. Prior to doing this test, I went through the 'check switch' procedure.
Do I have a faulty receiver?

You can only record 2 and watch another 'live' program with a 9200 or 9242 model by using the OTA Tuner, you most certainly cannot do that with a 9241 as it does not have the OTA Tuner.

You can record 2 shows whilst watching a pre-recorded show from the Internal Drive.
What is an OTA tuner? So are you saying that we cannot even record one channel and view another channel at the same time?

No, that can be done with no problems at all.
Sorry, I was editing my reply as you were sending your answer. My additionl question, for clarification is:
'So are you saying that we cannot even record one channel and view another channel at the same time? '
Answered in post #5.
Crossed wires again.

No, even if I record on one channel, and try to live view on another, I get the 015 or 002 error code displayed, requiring a cold re-boot. So if you say that I should be able to do this, then I can only conclude that I have a lemon.
Do you have an email address for Bell technical support? The Bell site, just sends you around in circles and only answers obvious questions like,"make sure the cables are plugged in"
Do you have the 9241 installed correctly, with 2 input cables.?

Is the Recording going to Tuner 1 when you try to view live.?
When the 9241 is properly installed, you can record two live shows at the same time while watching something that you've already recorded.

Do a check switch, and save the results of any errors, it'll help identify any issue you have with any incoming feed to either tuner 1 or 2.

Before I make any suggestions, we need to know what is really going on with your setup. Upgrading your receiver from a single tuner setup almost surely requires a hardware upgrade or another line from an existing SW44 (or DPP upgrade).

Which you can do, provided the third program being watched was previously recorded. I almost never watch anything live. That's the PVR way. ;)
My setup consists of a new Bell installed Dishpro Plus, feeding the signals down a 60ft RG6 coax and into a Bell provided separator. Its two outputs feed the two tuner inputs on the 9241.

This evening, I setup the 9241 to start recording a program, using the guide. The program showed a blue dot and when the time came for the 9241 to change channel and start recording, it changed channel, but the red record light did not illuminate. The program finished short of the hour, so I went to the guide and the dot was now red. There certainly was no conflict since the program recorded was one that we had never watched before.
Any clues?
Are you sure you have a 9241 and not a 9242?
Sounds like it is recording to Tuner 1 not the default of Tuner 2.
Error 015 & 002 is loss of satellite signal. Sounds like one of your tuners has a bad connection to the sat input.
What type of splitter device did the installer use to split the line from your dish to the two inputs?
What was the results of the check switch? Did both tuners have signal?
do a check switch like Costa mentioned above.
