I've recently moved back to Canada (Vancouver) after nearly 8 yrs overseas. I have never owned a cell phone here; so I'm finding it overwhelming to make a decision on what to get. My needs are very basic: limited incoming and outgoing usage, apart from a camera and music feature, no other special apps required. I'm trying to stay away from contracts and looking at pre-paid for low monthly costs.

I would appreciate any advice to make my search easier.

If data is not something you need chat-r is a good option. No contract and most any gsm phone will work with it. 3G voice and data ( thats the water cooler talk soon )

any q's just ask.

+1 for speakout wireless. My girlfriend rarely uses her cellphone, so it fit quite nicely. She uses maybe $3 a month in calls/texts, vs any other "pre-paid" company where she would be forced to $10-15 minimum a month.
