Netflix will have another competitor in Canada, as Shaw Communications plans to launch a Web video service.

Shaw Go, will feature newly released movies and premium television programs such as Game of Thrones, reports the National Post.

Shaw plans to employ content from pay-TV stations including Movie Central and HBO Canada and will make them available on a Movie Central app for mobile devices, according to the Post article.

BCE announced last week that it would introduce a similar service to Netflix. BCE argued to the CRTC that its proposed acquisition of Astral was vital to compete more effectively with large foreign communication firms.

Shaw reports that the Shaw GO app was released on iTunes on Sept. 20th and is now available for download.
