Interestingly enough most of those channels listed, specifically the ones that are currently in tiers are all now owned by Shaw. I'm going to try and find out more about this one myself, but perhaps some of the Shaw guys on this board can shed more light on this new package.

And after chatting with a Shaw rep online i've confirmed that it only includes those channels mentioned above and not any specific tiers. Looks like Shaw is willing to create new packages with mostly their own channels. Surprisingly enough Food Network is included but not HGTV?? That makes no sense at all, i'd also prefer HGTV over Slice and i'm sure most customers would.

In the end for me it's not much of a value package since I tend to watch many of the specialties available in tiers 1,2,3 and even though I would like to get Flicks and Timeshifting i'm not willing to pay more than i'm already paying and am not willing to give up tiers 1,2,3 either in exchange for them.

Not sure when the option to choose individual channels will be available. Eventually I suppose. They would have to take T1, T2, T3 off of analog to do this. Many people have filters if they do not subscribe to those packs.

I believe certain areas are now digital only and I know others, such as rural Manitoba, currently have or will soon the 3 tiers in digital only, so that shouldn't be a problem. Besides if you have digital tv, your not receiving analog so offering a la carte shouldn't be an issue, should it?

Yes this is a newer package that includes basic and only the few extra "tier based" channels mentioned. It is a rarely used package due to the inability to add the full tiers for customers but it is definitely available and has been for a couple months now.

Yes HD Plus and pick and pay channels can be added to the best of my knowledge. (just not tiers). Like other bundles with Shaw you can have up to 4 cable outlets.

I subscribe to cable TV, Shaw Home Phone Basic and High Speed Internet. If I deduct from my regular monthly charges of $132.85 the following:

Movie Central - $17.00
HD Plus - $12.00
Encore Avenue - $3.00
Voice Mail - $5.95

the net amount is $94.90, the same as this so called Value Bundle.

I have been a Shaw customer for over 20 years (some times I even have multi accounts). When I first subscribed to Shaw cable internet service, they would give you a free NIC (10 mps). I remember they even needed to email me the nic driver. However, I never have a break on the bundle price. The truth is that I am eager to try telus TV since my mom wants to stay with telus.

Change in pricing & Shaw PVR

Is there an automatic change in pricing when you purchase a shaw pvr?

We just came back from holidays and we've noticed a change in our bill. A $20 jump in price. The problem is Shaw does not break down the services very well on the invoice. We are also on automatic billing...which I KNEW this was a bad idea.. The detailed breakdown is even worse.

$107.46 is the norm. We were on the analog basic cable with a purchased modem. We don't need/want HD.

Then we bought the PVR when our dvd recorder broke. Our bill didn't change at the time. Of course, we've never subscribed to the HD service.. Actually Shaw didn't tell us we were SUBSCRIBING to this service. Just because we bought the PVR, doesn't mean we wanted digital service. ISN'T this ILLEGAL (negative billing)? Our invoice total hadn't changed at the time so we didn't think anything of it.

Ok.. so Basic Cable, and Tier 3 went up $1 each.. High-Speed went up also.. but what's the Additional IP Address? Here the HD Plus Package started but was reduced by some Promotional Discount... so the invoice wasn't too out of the norm.. (PS.. where does Shaw indicate on their invoices to the client that prices start to change? As a customer, shouldn't I be informed of price increases?)

Now that we're back, the bill got even higher, without the promotional discount.
