He actually mentioned it way back in January and said it would be released 'within 3 months'. Oh well, at least Shaw is getting closer to their estimates. I didn't want to post anything about it here until it looked more promising, which it does now. Call me gun-shy but I think I have been burned one too many times in the past.

Here's to improved functionality and features. I'm trying not to hold my breath, just in case...

Yeah I remember that. It's been pushed back, what, twice now I believe? (Announced as "coming soon", then soon came and went...)

Eastlink has been pushing to its customers over the last little bit. We got it last week here.

I think you'll enjoy some of the changes. A person could say one of the changes is a "big" one. ;)

Do you happen to know what the full version file number is? Apparently there are different versions between the operators and have different 'features' associated with them. Oh, and why not tell us what the 'feature' is that you say is 'big'?

Just rechecking now...

7.1.7.37X5R-P.393816

Shows as the "software update" version in the diagnostics screen.

The big thing is a 5 channel coloured grid with a larger font. Much easier to read.

Hmmm.... I wouldn't call a coloured grid guide a 'big' thing but each to their own. I have heard about that and several other possible 'features' but until it gets released and we actually see what has been included with Shaw's version, I'm biting my tongue. Thanks for the info, just the same.

Besides color coding the 5 line grid with larger font will not be a huge jump for shaw customers. Shaw has been using a 5 line grid with larger font for some time now. For eastlink customers it is was a big difference as they have had the 6 line grid with small font till now. This makes a huge difference in legibility in my opinion. Color coding is a definitive bonus as well.
Not sure if pausing live tv in one room and watching in another was there before the update as well. Just noticed that now though.

Update: The new code begins roll out tomorrow and will take a couple of weeks to make it around to all boxes. If you check your 'update' status and it shows as 'available' then you can force the load early but only by a day really. It would update on its own that night. The roll out is a random lottery process and will take a while due to the number of boxes out there.

Oh, and the additional features certainly are 'big' but I'm not sure if I can mention them until tomorrow. viperdiablo is right about us having the 5 line guide and larger font for some time now. I would rather have the 6 line guide with selectable font size. There is still so much wasted space on the screen when the grid guide is open.

Oh well, at least they are finally making some long overdue progress.

Well I have the new software here in Winnipeg. Every thing I tried seemed to work. I will have to play with it some more this evening.

In other words, mostly window dressing and cosmetic tweaks. Still waiting for something actually USEFUL, like a DLNA client (a Plex client would be ideal, but that's probably too much to ever wish for).

My understanding, DLNA is dead. Hope I am wrong, but that's the impression I'm left with.

They couldn't get it "up to snuff" enough to their liking so scrapped it all together.

Again, this is my understanding, and I may be wrong.
