Shaw Communications Inc. announced this week that the Shaw Family, and entities owned or controlled by them, completed the purchase of an additional 1,000,325 Class B Non-Voting Shares of the Company.

The Shaw Family, and entities owned or controlled by them, now holds 51,586,354 Class A and Class B shares of Shaw Communications.

Shaw and Shaw Class B shares closed yesterday at $20.66 and $19.65 respectively on the Toronto Stock Exchange which puts the estimated value of their Shaw Communications holdings at over $1 billion.

The Shaw Family also advised the Company that it would continue its practice of purchasing shares on a regular basis.

In addition to a controlling stake in Shaw Communications, the Shaw family also holds the majority of voting shares in Corus Entertainment. Corus is the owner of 37 radio stations clustered predominately in major Canadian markets and numerous television services including: YTV, Treehouse, Nickelodeon (Canada), TELETOON, TELETOON Retro, W Network, CosmoTV, OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network (Canada), W Movies, CMT (Canada), Sundance Channel (Canada) DUSK, Telelatino, Western Canada’s pay TV service Movie Central, HBO Canada in the West and three local over-the-air television stations.
