FWIW I have a 605 and recently it was slow by about a minute for days so I unplugged it and when it came back the time was okay.
Thank you 57 I unplugged and that fixed it, but I'm confused b'cuz I thought the signal comes from the satellite that's why I didn't put my post in the 630 thread I thought it was a SD problem. So how did unplugging our rcvr fix it?@Bayguy : Did you try a hard reset or unplugging, as discussed earlier in this thread?
It isn't a "decision" the older sattellites are dying, Shaw has to switch to G1. They have already lost some xpdrs on the old birds. I'm sorry for snowbirds and we're going to lose SD too (we aren't snowbirds) but there's nothing SD can do about it.Let me see now. We have 3 x 630's and 1 x 830. The 630's will soon become useless $600 paper weights. We will also retire our 830 when the full transition to G1 is completed. We will then (sadly)retire from SD after nearly 20 years of great service. Reason? The decision between snow-birding in Florida for 5-6 months every year or staying home to watch TV we're paying over $120 a month for wasn't even close: snow-birding won. I hope many fellow snowbirds do the same. It's the only way we can get even with SD for their decision to go with G1:

We have a 605. what does "will be list from a 600 series" mean?Technically speaking, 600 series cannot handle HEVC channels, so any channel which is converted will be list from a 600 series, yes?
wow, I guess we're going to lose channels even before the satellite dies then.Typo. "Lost"![]()
Maybe later they'll send you another 830 when they have more so you can get back to four again. Right now I bet they're trying to make sure that every body has at least one but you had so many they gave you two.we have 3 x 630s and 1 x 830 for a total of 4. So we will wind up with 3 x 830s once the 630s become bricks.
Dr. Dave what do you mean based on channels? Doesn't everybody get the same channels? Do you mean ppl who subscribe to channel pkgs that are going to G1 sooner?I think they already have a plan to distribute the 800 series. It could be based on the first group of channels that will be converted, especially if they can use some of the F2 transponders while the orbit is degrading.
Did any body ask if they can get more later? I still think Shaw is doling them out now but might have more later.Wow, that's a subpar answer, really subpar. To me that indicates they don't have the product. This is going to be a s#$%show I'm starting to think. Either that or they're being really cheap. What if they call and we just say "no thanks, I'll keep ALL my receivers until they don't work anymore..."
Furrowflipper did you not read any of this thread????Shaw cold called me in early September and wanted to send me a free PVR830 to replace one of my 6 allowed receivers ... why would they want to do that. Are they up to something such as tracking where I take a receiver in the summer or winter or wherever . Corporations just don't do that .. I think something is up
If no body knows what that means ping @k801809 she can tell you.Yesterday (10/2) my pvr630 stopped functioning-when I unplug the unit then reconnect-four “0000” appears on display then “————“ and all the while no display on the tv. I tried leaving it unplugged overnight…at one point while it was still powered the display showed “runo”? Any help is appreciated.
I have not heard of any replacement for the Anik satellites they have Anik F2 and Anik G1, Anik F2 is dying so Shaw is putting everything on Anik G1. What do you mean by "the new replacement for the Anik"??it does not pay me to buy the 830 model now-as when the new replacement for the Anik-the footprint will be even more concentrated north…
Yes the 600s will stop working but if NHLPHL can't get G1 then there is no use buying a 800. I think he's like us our 600 died a couple months ago so we canceled Shaw since F2 will be going away soon and we wouldn't get it anyway so no use getting an 800. Like NHLPHL said at least its saving us money every month but we do miss the Cdn channels.Haven't heard anything about a replacement for G1. They're tightening up the compression algorithm so G1 can handle more compressed channels. The 630 can't do the decryption and that's why you'll need an 830.
