Kids whose parents subscribe to Shaw Cable will be happy this week after the broadcast provider added several family friendly stations to its channel line-up in most Shaw regions across the country.
New stations added on November 15th include: Disney Junior and Disney XD in standard definiton while high definition additions include Family HD and Disney XD HD.
Family Channel HD provides a commercial-free mix of series, movies and specials dedicated to family life, with a large portion of programming from Disney. Disney XD offers discovery and adventure programming primarily targeted at boys ages 6-14. Programming includes titles such as Kick Buttowski - Suburban Daredevil, Kickin' It and Wingin' It. Disney Junior is a commercial-free network with popular shows like Jake and the Never Land Pirates, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Stella and Sam
All four channels will have a free preview until January 10, 2012.
Associated Shaw Video On Demand content will also debut in December, allowing families to watch episodes from the new channels at any time. The new channels and VOD content will join nine existing channels as part of the Family Pack for $5 per month with the Shaw Plan Personalizer. Customers can also access the new Standard Definition channels through Digital TV, while the High Definition channels will join the HD Plus package.
Earlier this week, Shaw informed Digital Home that viewers in Chilliwack and North Vancouver will not receive these services until the digital network upgrade (analog tiers converted to digital) is completed on or around November 24th and December 13th respectively.
