Sharp Electronics said this week that its first 3D LCD televisions were now arriving in Canadian stores.

The 52 inch LC-52LE925UN and 60 inch LC-60LE925UN are now available at retailers nationwide for $4,000 and $5,000 respectively.

That's a lot of money, If it was 3d I would definatly chose The panasonic VT25 3d plasma
which is cheaper and voted best 3dtv. I thinks Sharp's yellow advertising also is just a huge gimmick to make money. I saw avatar side by side with a samsung LED LCD and the quattron (torch mode, like all stores do) and the Samsung had the slightly better colors and deeper black contrasts. So sharp I see as a marketing gimmick with insane prices. I would just wait till they have more content and no need to wear glasses.
These weren't available until now? Is that correct? Because local stores have had demonstration walls up for at least a couple months and I've even been pitched to buy a Quattron set which I can't see a salesman doing if there weren't any stock.

In the demo I saw, the Sharps did look noticeably superior to the various 3-color-only sets that flanked them. But I have no idea if it was one of those demos where the deck is stacked so to speak.

I too am curious if additional base colors helps. On the one hand, additional colors sure do improve ink printing, but on the other hand, it hard to imagine much room for improvement over some of the current televisions panels that already have a pretty great picture.
I've never believed the Quattron hype. You can't create something out of nothing. There's simply no primary yellow in the broadcast signal. You have red, green and blue. That's it!

Even worse, television sets are factory configured to attract your attention on the showroom floor, and not to look good in your home, which often makes judging them in the store completely pointless.

So now we add 3D in the mix (which I can't see anyway), and we end up with a TV that's so expensive, you'll probably need a huge loan to afford one. Too bad the set also comes with side-illuminating LED arrays which are vastly inferior in performance and picture quality to rear mounted full LED array lighting systems.

Nope. There's simply too many things that are very, VERY wrong with this set.

This announcement was for the 3D Quattron sets.

Me too but a lot of people refuse to buy plasma because of the burn-in hype but please lets discusss the 3D Quattron models here and not Plasma vs. LCD.

Yep it's the biggest load of horse dung out there right now. The bottom line is that red, green and blue together make millions and millions of colours, including yellow with red and green primary colours.

Here is an article explaining where the yellow could live on the Quattron.http://www.maximumpc.com/article/features/display_myths_shattered?page=0,4
Review by MarketNews of this set although, FWiW, I've never seen MarketNews pan one of its advertisers sets so read with a grain of salt.
