I have a Sharp LC-42D62U. The other day I was trying to attach some external speakers to the output audio jacks in the back and couldn't get them to work. I tried to change the menu option ( audio fixed to audio variable ) but it wouldn't let me. I then noticed other options wouldn't change either like ( advanced in display menu) Most of the menu buttons wont change. I can change the Audio Equalizer ( bass, treble etc) and the Display ( color, brightness, etc) I use to be able to change things in the advanced display menu. OPC is off. Is there a setting somewhere blocking me from making changes? I use Input 1 hooked up to a Eastlink DVR. Does anyone have any suggestions? I would really appreciate any help. Thanks

I'm not sure how the Sharp works, but on my Sony some options for picture and audio are grayed out if I do not chose 'custom' when setting picture and audio. It's possible that they may become available if you chose the 'custom' setting on your Sharp TV, but like I said, I'm going by what Sony does so this may not apply.

I appreciate the help. I do have some buttons grayed out but these ones look active. I use to be able to change some of them. Now nothing happens when I click on them.

Unplug the TV overnight to see if it resets. You may have also invoked some sort of "lock" in the menu buttons. Here's a list of things to check:

Thanks for the suggestions. I now believe the " Enter" button on the remote is broken. I've ordered a new one.
