I've just had optik TV installed and one of the STB I'm using is an old one I got from a friend, the problem is that it appears to be still registered to his account and will only let me display channels that he's subscribed to. Is it possible to reset the box to the factory settings so that it will register to my account?

Try rebooting it, hold down the ON button until all the lights flash, then let it cycle........not a guarantee, but no harm trying it

If you just had it installed, why are you using a friends STB?

It's not possible. It will require a call in to de-associate the box from his account and get a new reg code linked to your account.

a simple phonecall to telus tech support will fix it. They will ask you for the MAC address located on the bottom of the STB and give you a registration code associated with your account.

The friend needs to call Telus/Optik and release the receiver to you.
