Cisco has announced the second generation of its popular Flip MinoHD camcorder is now scheduled to arrive in Canada during the middle of July.

The updated camcorder has a slightly more rounded design than its predecessor, responsive touch-sensitive buttons, and a durable brushed metal finish.

Features of the low cost entry level high definition (HD) camcorder include: 1280 x 720p video resolution; 8GB of built-in memory for about two hours of recording time; a two inch 320 x 240 reflective screen; HDMI output so you can hook the device directly to your HDTV with a single cable; lithium ion battery and built-in microphone and speaker.

For editing your videos, Cisco has packaged in FlipShare software which offers basic editing and organizing tools and the ability to upload videos directly to YouTube or MySpace.

"The original Flip MinoHD has been a hit with the social networking generation," said Cisco's Jonathan Kaplan. "Our second generation Flip MinoHD lets users shoot twice as much video, enjoy a bigger screen, and even upload videos directly to popular social media sites.”
The second generation Flip MinoHD will sell in Canada for $239, while the original will sell for $209.
