Seagate today announced that its Showcase DVR expander has been certified for compatibility with Pace cable set-top box digital video recorders (DVR).

The Seagate Showcase DVR expander is available in 500GB and 1 Terabyte capacities, for up to 200 hours of additional HD movies or 1,000 hours of additional standard definition television. Featuring a Seagate Pipeline HD hard drive inside, the Seagate Showcase DVR expander comes with eSATA or USB 2.0 interfaces.

"Today's cable and satellite customers are faced with more and more entertainment choices to enjoy, but have limited storage capacity with their digital video recorders. The Seagate Showcase DVR expander is designed to help people enjoy more recorded television, especially high-definition programming," said Brian Dexheimer, division president of Seagate's Consumer Solutions Division.

This would probably work with the Pace PVRs used by Shaw - discussed in the following thread.

Don't know if it'd work with the SA8300HD - someone would have to test. There are of course lots of options available for the SA8300HD, as discussed in the external HDD thread.

As indicated in post one, any drive that doesn't run 24/7 and has power management doesn't run with SA. There have been other incompatibilities...
