The company says the first phase of deployment will start in the fall of next year in Regina and Saskatoon and surrounding areas.

Other urban and rural areas will be deployed starting in 2013 based on the demand for incremental data services.

SaskTel may beat Rogers to LTE in Regina and Saskatoon them (interestingly, Rogers beat SaskTel to digital cellular and HSPA/HSPA+, albeit with a smaller network and not 100% conversion to the newer technologies). Some of Rogers' network is still 2G EDGE (and 2G GPRS on 1900 MHz on many rural sites).

Choices are good. I'm looking forward to this.

I was with Rogers for ten years and I rarely found myself outside of Rogers coverage. The only reason I ported (just last month) was that I was wearying of having 2G data connections at my cottage and SaskTel's new network works with my unlocked iPhone.
