Hi:

Can't find much on this via searching this forum, so here goes some questions:

The Samsung Series 6 TV's I'm looking at are all apparently LED-powered, but there is no information about whether they are edge-lit or matrix-lit. Does anyone have hard information?

The 4 models I'm looking at are:

UN46C6800, .... 500, ... 400, ...300

Oddly, the website's specs don't show much in the way of major differences between these 4 models, and Samsung's support line had no information either, and actually suggested that I contact a retailer.

Does anyone have model difference information sources that you can point me at?

All those models are edge lit LED TV's. I don't believe Samsung has an array backlighting LED TV on the market currently. You would have to take a look at the Sony or LG models for that. That being said, those samsung 6000 series Tvs are great sets overall.

Samsung series

I too would like to find out the actual differences between the Samsung Models. Their website comparison tool shows all the TVs to have pretty much the same specs, so it's pretty useless.

I'm only interested in Canadian NetFlix compatible brands, 55-65 inches.

The 9000 and 8000 series are out as they are too much dough.

Love to know what the difference is between the 7000 and 6000 series, as they are both in my price range.

How can I find out what the differences are between the 6400/6500/6800 models? Anyone know?

Model Differences

I downloaded all the user manuals for the models in question -- and then went through them, tediously, on-screen, side-by-side. An amazing amount of boring work.

In the end, the differences between various models in Series 6 was what I call "gadgety" features, mostly Internet-related. Not worth the price difference. And I did not make any notes about the features.

In the end, I found that the Samsung Blu-Ray player model BD-C6500T has many of those features incorporated, including built-in WiFi. So buying it got me most of the features at very low price difference, plus a nifty Blu-Ray player.

It is dismaying that Samsung can't provide a decent quality feature comparison chart.

I don't know about the others, but there is only one difference between the 6300 (gloss black plastic bezel) and the 6500 (matt black metal bezel)!

.......ohhh, almost forgot and about a $200 difference in price.

I was originally only looking at the Samsung because it does NetFlix natively, and can play movies from a USB-connected HD, but after looking at NetFlix's selection (which is pretty weak) I realize that I'll be better off getting HBO Canada than NetFlix, so that feature is no longer a priority.

Still like the Samsung, but I also like the pq on the Sonys. Decisions, decisions.

The difference is minimal if any at all - If you pay close attention to sales and flyers you'll notice that the model numbers are slightly adjust for big retailers - THIS IS SO THAT THEY DONT COMPETE WITH ONE ANOTHER - one model number will be exclusive to one retailer when really the competition is selling the exact same tv under a slightly altered model number. Does this not make perfect sense and is it now clear as mud to you?

Big Retailer Trickery

Yes, very confusing.

Mostly, the really big retailers do this so that they can avoid price-matching claims by their customers. "Sorry", they say, "That price is on a different model".

Another difference is DCR is 5,000,000 on the 6500 and 4,000,000 on the 6300.

These models also have 4ms response time. The clerk said said yes but it runs on 2ms lol. Anything to make a sale lol!

Future shop listing has the best specs on the 6500,6300.

samsung 6300 or 6500????

I'm buying today a TV and are interested in the Samsungs. I see that as of today the 46c6300 can be bought for $1299 includes a free blue ray player.

The 46c6500 is still at $1499, no DVD.

Advantages for the 6500.

5ml/1 DCR
matt screen not gloss
better looking frame
more internet/media connections

IS all that worth the extra $300? I don't plan on using any extra media stuff. JUSt watch HDTV, DVD, and xbox.
