Purchased January 2009 - now it won't turn on. When I try to turn it on, there are no clicking noises (as reported elsewhere) - nothing - but a red light located on the lower right of the TV (when facing the TV front) flashes. Tried different outlets, etc.. Capacitors look fine. Other pieces (Rogers HD box and DVD player) are working fine.

Any repair ideas? Either DIY or reliable repair shops?

Thanks.

Just curious, does it turn on if you use the manual power button on the set? Sometimes there is an issue with the IR mechanism and relay. I know it sounds obvious, but some people don't realise there are still manual controls on (most) TVs.

What you have is a well-known issue with Samsung LCDs, do a Google search on something like Samsung LCD clicking capacitors and you will discover that you are not alone.

What needs to be done is either replace the power supply and if your set is under warranty that is the course. If it isn't then you need to replace bulged capacitors on the power supply board, likely four.

I recall several videos on YouTube that show how to do this repair.

Good luck.
