Salesforce.com will buy Halifax-based software firm, GoInstant for $76 million USD.

GoInstant, founded in 2010, provides software that allows people in different locations to browse websites together. The 'co-browsing' technology is helpful in sales calls and customer support functions.

"When we started GoInstant in early 2010, we set out to transform web browsing from a solitary task to a shared experience... Not only will we continue to advance our technology, but with salesforce.com's support...we will have more resources, and be able to reach more customers, faster," wrote GoInstant CEO Jevon MacDonald and CTO Gavin Uhma in a company blog.

Salesforce.com, which is a worldwide leader in enterprise cloud computing applications, notably customer relationship management (CRM) software, recently bought social media marketing platform Buddy Media for approximately $689 million. Salesforce also acquired software-as-a-service provider, Thinkfuse in June and collaboration tool company, Stypi in May.
