Hey Everyone,

The power went out tonight for a few minutes. When it came back up, my SA8300HD PVR will no longer access the guide. I get a message saying 'cannot access guide while set top box is in standalone mode'

I've done the warm/cold reboot and the setup. It didn't solve the problem. I only get one channel.

Is there anything I can do to solve this issue?

I appreciate your feedback.

Sounds like the STB may not be communicating back to the head end. Check your connections and remove any upstream splitters, power bars, etc. temporarily. You may need to call Rogers for a rehit, but you may be able to check your signal strength and S/N ratio if the STB is on beforehand.

You may also have a faulty HDD. With a PVR, I always recommend a UPS so that it has some protection and doesn't go down. Plug the PVR into the battery (and surge) protected side of the UPS and any high draw equipment like a TV or AVR into the surge only side.

Thank you for the information.

As you suggested, I reseated the CATV cable, and it solved the problem.

The way things happened, I was almost convinced the PVR was fried when the power went out and back on.

Thank you!
