I have just noticed, thanks to football, that my 8300HD will not rewind or pause under certain circumstances.

If I have it tuned to 523(CBS) and at some point CTV decides to simsub the broadcast, but after it has started), I cannot rewind or pause the program(524, NBC had the same problem last night).
I noticed it last week.
If I change to another channel and then back to 523, then the pause/rewind function appears to work correctly.

I am guessing that the cutting in of CTV does something that the PVR just doesn't like.

Has anyone else seen this?

thanks

I was about to post a similar question......

Except my 8300 PVR has not been able to FFW or RRW or Pause etc...on any station. It even wouldn't allow me to play any of my recordings when I went under the listed sections.

I tried doing a cold reboot of the device, and sure enough that fixed the problem.

Try that,

However this isn't the first time this has happened to me, its been happening far to frequently since they updated the firmware on all the units, about 2 months ago.

This and similar topics have been discussed before. In order to avoid them, do not view/record the US channel, view/record the Canadian Channel. The simsub has caused problems with rewinds, broken recordings, etc.

As mentioned above, a reboot will usually solve issues, but if you record/pause a programme and it gets subbed, you'll simply run into the issue again.

Not in the Rogers forum much but this must be a Rogers only issue. Never seen it on Bell. Has anyone contacted Rogers?

Well of course it only happens if you are watching the US channel.
Football has been simsubed for the entire year(eastern only, thank god for the western feeds), but I have only noticed this problem since early in December.

And I could understand if the simsub reset the feed back to a new start point, ie if they start the simsub 10 minutes in, then you couldn't rewind past THAT point, but it won't rewind at all without changing the channel. I just find it really weird that the PVR acts this way.

Oh well, as long as I'm not the only one.

And the TV and cable suits keep wondering why people watch stuff on that there newfangled internets thingy.

My PVR is not taping anything anymore for the last 2 days. No recordings work, not programmed, not manual.

Can't rewind, pause anything.

Doing a cold reboot...don't tell me that I won't be able to tape anything anymore with Rogers!??
