Hey gang

Crossing over the border tomorrow and going to do some shopping.

I am looking for a dual band router.

I am guessing a 600 is the way to go (300 each band) to do the "one band is for surfing, the other for streaming movies" thing.

I don't want to totally break the bank; my isp provided router is actually pretty good. I am just in upgrading mode so looking for a good quality with good range option at a good price

any suggestions ?

I am thinking i want to stay under $100 and the further below the better

One of the first things you will need to know is if your devices have network adapters the support 5.0ghz. Surprisingly many don't. Another thing of note is that the 5.0ghz band usually doesn't extend as far the 2.4ghz does. I have a dual band D-link that works well, but there are only 2 machines on my network that can see 5.0ghz. Also the connection speed you achieve will be dependent on your adapters. My 5.0ghz machines will connect at 300 but most others are at 150. YMMV
