Introducing Rogers Xfinity Multiview: Watch Multiple 2025 Stanley Cup Playoff Games All on One Screen - About Rogers .

Customers can watch two games at once with a free preview of Rogers Xfinity Multiview

As the first round of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs heats up, Rogers announced today a preview of Rogers Xfinity Multiview, a new service that gives Canadian hockey fans the chance to watch two games at once – all on the same screen.

Rogers Xfinity Multiview will launch on select nights throughout the first round of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs starting Monday, April 21 at 9:30 p.m. ET. Customers just need to say “Multiview” into their award-winning voice remote to enjoy side-by-side coverage, with the ability to switch audio and add captions.

These exclusive events are a free preview of the new Rogers Xfinity Multiview experience, starting with this year’s 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Rogers plans to continue building on its Rogers Xfinity Multiview experience, including the ability to watch up to four live events at the same time, increasing the number of sports, and the ability for customers to build their own Multiview experience.

See the press release for available games.

Rogers is typically years behind in rolling out new technology to most parts of Canada. The main exception appears to be the GTA. The only reason Rogers is anywhere close to current in TV technology is the agreement with Comcast to use the Xfinity platform.

If I understand everything correctly Rogers will show 2 NHL playoff games at same time over the next couple weeks. Not being a fan I could care less. Where I'm confused is, will I be able to decide what sports games I might want on multi-view, in the future, or will Rogers tell me what they are going to show?

Being a soccer, baseball and basketball fan I like the idea to watch 4 games at same time. Did I miss any part of me being able to decide or is the feature still in developing stages? Will this feature only apply to sports? If I wanted to watch 2 live news reports could I do that? As I'm typing how is the audio feed going to work? Since I mute all live sports audio, it won't matter to me.

I tried using it last night and the audio comes from whichever game you have highlighted and you can switch back and forth. My only complaint is the lag is greater with split screen than if you watch the individual games but other than that it worked well.

I discovered this press release: MediaKind helps bring Multiview to millions of Xfinity customers - MediaKind , with MediaKind promoting its Multiview product at the NAB show earlier this month. (National Association of Broadcasters)

MediaKind said in the press release that "MK.IO Multiview services are designed for flexible, event-based workflows, allowing activation and scaling for major viewing events such as sports or news." My hunch after reading their press releases is that the technology seems designed for pre-selected channels.

MediaKind owns the Mediaroom platform for disk-based PVRs at Bell and Telus and also provides the cloud PVR service for Bell. The Bell MTS MyPicks app allows you to pick any channels you want and arrange them the way you want on the Multiview screen, but that's a different technology than what MediaKind is licensing to Comcast and Rogers.

It really does not matter if your TV set has built in PIP functionality or additional ATSC/NTSC tuners, any extra technology features that is built-in to your TV set won't really add any extra value if you're primarily watching thru your ignite/xfinity box connected to HDMI input. The picture in picture aka multiview now comes from the ignite/xfinity set top box.

The execution of Multiview has been poor. It only works with select NHL game pairs.

It would be nice if multiview was available on all subscribed channels.

I would like to watch MLB TV, the jays game and whatever hockey game was on at the same time and bounce between audio sources.

During the NFL season, I'll often put my laptop in front of the main TV and watch RED Zone and another main game at the same time even though there are often time delays between the 2 sources.
