Rogers will be providing the wireless connectivity for the 3G-enabled PlayStation Vita when it launches in Canada on October 2nd.

While the PS Vita Console with WiFi only has been available since February for $250, expect to pay $300 for the 3G/WiFi bundle. Rogers will be providing the 3G service in two plans: 250 MB for $15 a month, or 5 GB for $35.

The data packages enables turn-based, asynchronous multiplayer gameplay, instantly updated rankings and leaderboards, immediate access to the latest downloadable add-on content, and real-time community news.

"PlayStation Vita with a 3G connection will completely transform the way Canadian gamers play on the go, offering new ways to play games and interact with entertainment," said Stephen Turvey, Vice President and General Manager, Sony Computer Entertainment Canada.

Social networking features developed for PS Vita include a location-based application, "near", which allows users to find out what other owners near their location are currently playing and what titles are most popular in the area.

Also, "LiveArea" gives users interactive access to the latest gaming information in the PS network.
