Rogers Wireless today announced the expansion of its next generation 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) wireless network service into more cities surrounding the Greater Toronto Area and surrounding Vancouver.

For consumers who invest in new LTE wireless smartphones and tablets, LTE technology promises better network performance and better support for data services. LTE smartphone owners can expect to experience data speeds that are between three and four times faster than what is currently available.

Of course, in order to take advantage of the higher speeds, Rogers customers will need to invest in new, and more expensive LTE smartphones such as the $650 Samsung Galaxy S II LTE (see below), and more expensive LTE Data plans.

New areas around Toronto where LTE service is now available on the Rogers Wireless network include Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, and Markham. New service areas surrounding Vancouver include West Vancouver, North Vancouver, Port Coquitlam, Delta, Langley, Surrey and Maple Ridge.
