I have the Top 25 thingie, but don't really know what's on it anymore. I've had it for years and many channels have come and gone. I've brought this up here once in this forum and nobody seems to know anything about that package.

Please be advised that Rogers have redesigned the VIP package and removed several of the channels.

Channels 324, 334, 426, 427, 420, 421, 408 have to be ordered indiviualy as of October 2010

I've had the VIP package for years and I never got these channels with the exception of Big 10 (HD version). I think the PICK ALL theme package was effected not the regular VIP package. Since everything was no longer included they dropped the name PICK ALL and renamed it Ultimate Specialty Channels. The price stayed at $41.99 but they dropped the channels mentioned by other posters.

The popup works for me. There's a printer friendly link at the top of the popup. Maybe that would display better for you. The list is not up to date though. YTVHD and FAMHD are not shown yet.

Thinking of changing but can't compare

And here I thought I was just stupid because I couldn't understand Rogers packages...

I get the March 1, 2011 Rate "Adjustments" letter in the mail which shows "Rogers Cable TV Packages" as:
  • Basic Cable
  • MeTV Pak
  • Ultimate TV Pak
  • Extended Basic (the one that shows up on my bill rising $1.50/Mo)
  • Digital Plus
  • VIP Digital Cable
  • Digital VIP Movies Plus
  • VIP Digital Movies Plus 2
  • VIP Ultimate Plus Movies
  • VIP Ultimate Movies Pack 2
  • VIP Ultra Movies Package
So I decide to look online to find out what I should perhaps change to, depending on the channels included in each "package" and I click on "Packages & Pricing" and find the packages listed as:
  • Digital Basic
  • Digital Plus
  • VIP Package
  • VIP Ultimate with TMN
  • VIP Ultimate with Super Channel
That's it! The only common element in the two listings is "Digital Plus."

Would someone please explain to me how to make a comparison based on this information? Maybe I'm just stupid for continuing to pay for this crap?

The first list shows all the existing packages (including the older ones - like old car models), the 2nd one shows only the current offered packages (like new car models). Similar to car dealerships - they service older models, but sell only the newer models. However, you might be able to get "an older package/model" if you negotiate/haggle.

Yes, but I'm still stuck not being able to make comparisons. Rogers changes a package from "VIP Ultimate Plus Movies" to "VIP Ultimate with TMN", sets a price for it, and it's not a price increase? Of course I can only assume it's the same package because I can't compare.

This whole name change scam appears to have become normal business practice. To hide and avoid growing problems and criticisms, just change your name. Prime examples are Ontario Hydro, Consumers Gas, and Metropolitan Toronto, changing their names so that we, the ones paying the bills, don't know who does what any more.

Have a problem with a changed name organization? "Sorry they don't exist any more, we're 'The New Organization', we have nothing to do with that, you could try the 'The Other Organization'..." Please, don't get me started.

I'm thinking about downgrading from the VIP Package to the Digital Plus Package as well. I also currently have the HDTV Specialty Pak...does anyone know if I can still get the HDTV Specialty Pak without the VIP Package? I seem to have read somewhere that you needed VIP to get the HDTV Pak...can anyone please confirm?

Also, I can't seem to any info about which package WGN belongs to...is it VIP, Digital Plus, HDTV Specialty Pak, etc??

Thanks!

You either need VIP or a subscription to the SD channels in the specialty pack. I believe VIP is the less expensive option. Your post was moved to the appropriate thread.

Im thinking of downgrading from VIP cable to digital plus too. Is there a better channel comparison lineup than the popup on the Rogers site? I find it very difficult to compare between the two

Rogers Invoicing

Hi Folks

Why is it when you downgrade your cable then attempt to charge you a tech fee for $ 49.99 I called them on this and they said it was a mistake and they will credit my next invoice. I asked that they re-invoice and they replied they cannot do this. So I am to pay them $ 49.99 extra for this month. I wonder how often they do this to their customers. This is the exact reason I left Bell 2 1/2 years ago. I have been in service for 30 yrs and we do not have a problem canceling a invoice.

Your thoughts and comments.

never mind, I decided to make an excel spreadsheet myself. I've uploaded it to google docs, and it shows you a comparison between which channels are missing from VIP cable, digital plus, and digital basic. I decided there are only 2 channels I would miss out of 56 VIP channels if I switched to digital plus, so I made the downgrade.

I uploaded my file to Google Docs, hopefully this will help others. Note that I removed all radio stations and PPV channels -- basically you get them all between packages.

It all depends on the downgrade. If it requires a truck roll to install a filter for example, then they are not even breaking even, even though they may wave the fee for many customers who call in.

I know in the past that when I went past 4 an 8 digital cable boxes on our residental account they tried to apply that to me, but in both instances I was able to talk them into waiving the fee becasue I didn't need them to come out and install a splitter.
