It's an RF extender with four ports and picks up the RF signal from the 890 remote and converts it to IR to operate your devices. This extender is usually packaged with the 890 but not the 890 Pro. Also comes with 8 IR blasters on 4 8' cords which plug into the ports. Mine work well up to 50-60 feet.

I recommend the Harmony 890 c/w RF extender. You always need the extender if you don't have direct line of sight to operate your devices.

You need to install the transmitter unit, and if a wired repeater, run wire.

With the RF remote, you see nothing, and don't have to run wiring outsode of your HT cabinet, and will have nothing but screen to look at.
