Remote for Insignia

This is more like a two-part question. My father has an Insignia brand LCD TV for which he is constantly losing the remote. The problem with most replacement 'universal' style remotes is the way that they are programmed. After suffering two strokes, my father's hand co-ordination is not the best and I believe that he tends to hold down the 'power' button too long, resulting in the remote going in to programming mode. Once he hits any other button, the code is lost and he has to wait for me to come to re-program it. Does anyone know of an inexpensive (because it will probably be lost!) replacement remote that is compatible with the Insignia brand, but also one that does not rely on the power button or something similar to enter programming mode?
