Hey guys,

just wondering if you can use the HDPVR to record XBox 360 game videos. We've got some game play footage we'd like to post on Youtube. I've got a macbook for the video editing part of it, but I don't know how to get the video from the 360 onto it.

Any help would be great.

The PVR only records the digital channels sent by MTS. Technically, the PVR is just saving the digital file as it is sent. There are no other input options.

The way to record from your Xbox is to connect the Xbox directly to the Macbook. You will probably need a TV tuner. More info is available in the Home Theatre Personal Computer (HTPC) forum.

If the XBox has component video outputs and you wish to record in HD, you could connect it to an HTPC equipped with the Hauppauge HDPVR, also discussed in the HTPC forum here. That may be more than you want to spend.

If you just need an SD copy, then you could use composite or S-video connections, depending on what's at the back of the XBox - again to the computer.
