Along with a battery and signal indicator, I would love to see a data usage meter showing current (smoothed) data rate, and total data sent/received. I know on the iPad, and on the new iPhone you can view the cellular data usage in Settings/Usage.
I would like to see a realtime view of the data usage (Cell and WiFi) while running an application (like viewing a video, or surfing). When viewing a youtube video for example, I have no idea how much data I will be using. If I saw the data rate, and the total thus far, I could choose to stop if it was too high.
Just high on my wish list.
