Digital streaming service Rdio and Shazam have launched their music discovery app beyond the United States to users in Canada, Australia, Brazil, Mexico and the United Kingdom.

With the Shazam App for iOS and Android, users can find out the name of their favourite new tune, then instantly listen to the entire song after tagging it by clicking the “Listen Free on Rdio” link within the app.

Jason Titus, CTO of Shazam, elaborates: "Working together in six major countries across the globe, we are now providing more than 120 million users of the free version of Shazam the ability to instantly listen to an entire song they just identified exclusively on Rdio. The combination of Rdio and Shazam gives music lovers the fastest tagging service and a groundbreaking digital music service so they can identify, save, and organize their music discoveries."

Rdio’s partnership with Shazam, which began in the fall 2012, goes beyond just helping users to name and listen to music, adds Drew Larner, CEO of Rdio. "In one click, you can go from tagging a song on Shazam to playing it on Rdio, sharing it with friends, or discovering more music by that artist. Together, we’ve built a seamless experience to capture music in the moment and incorporate it into your life," Larner explained.

Rdio, which launched in August 2010, also announced 20 million songs are now available in its vast library as of the beginning of May.
