Our area is going all-digital this month(August) and they are giving one free DCT700 to every cable subscriber who has the non-digital service. A buddy told me even though he has a PVR and hi-def box allready if you go to the office they will give you a free DCT700 box as well. Would this be true?
I have 2 PVR's allready but another box for a TV in say the kitchen would be great if I got it for free cause free is my favorite price. If this be true I'll go down next week and get one but if not I hate looking like a schmuck.
Thanx in advance...

You'll be losing the analog service to your kitchen TV won't you bigscreenbob, so there's your justification for asking, Even if that weren't he case, ask. All they can do is say no. Then, a little later, try asking someone else. You have nothing to lose. Being persistent (but polite, calm) has often workled for me with Shaw. In fact if you currently have 2 TVs (and or VCRs, DVRs etc.) with analog service, ask for two boxes.

So what you're basically asking is, since you paid for two digital boxes, which probably helped pay for the infrastructure needed to delivery digital services, should you get a third box (DCT700) for free because everyone with no digital boxes at all gets one?

Damn right you should.

But why stop there? Since the basic service includes 4 outlets, shouldn't you get 4 free boxes? Otherwise, what's to stop you from going satellite or TelusTV?

@bigscreenbob

sorry for the delay in responding, and yes, you are entitled to one lifetime dct700 rental regardless of what equipment you already have.

cheers,

Sean
