I'm deciding between going with Bell or Shaw Direct. I am in the Vancouver area. From what I've read here it seems that channels such as the 2 Thunder Bay ones (222,223), the 2 Lloydminster ones (237,238), the Medicine Hat one(CHAT-248), CBC Terrace(257) and CBC Dawson Creek (258) are only available if you happen to live in that particular area? Therefore, if you lived in Vancouver it would be impossible to receive these channels no matter what.

Is this correct and does the exact same thing apply with Shaw Direct as well with those channels?

This isn't going to sway me from one provider to another but I was just curious how this works because I've never had satellite before.

Thanks.

Yes its definately that way with Bell. Back when I had Bell I could not access any of these mentioned channels, but i'm quite sure they're just repeats of the other local channels with in same time zone, only difference might be the news.
