That's what I said above. People were able to add them a few yearsa back though.

I just sold off two of my never activated 3100s. Been sitting around for almost two years and I actually bought them for $79 for the pair (3150 box...I needed the dish and one LNB) almost two years ago.

The guy had no problem activating them (well they were never activated before!!!) and now I have a couple hundred to spend on another new HD box.

I would be very interested in the 9200 refurbs at $299. Anyone have a number that I can call as there are no Bell stores here!!!!

Hello all.I have to leave my bell sub.Because of rising costs,and my wife is currenly out of work.Cutbacks have to be made.Over $70/month is getting too much.I don't watch much tv anymore anyway.I have my tv ant and hd ota box for entertainment.I am wondering if anyone knows if I can sell and transfer ownership over to someone else.Also , are there any fees to pay to discontinue service.I have 2- 4700 model receivers.Does bell have a return policy to give me something for them if I can't sell privately?

Yes you can sell them and transfer ownership to a new subscriber, just call bell to have the receivers disactivated before you give them to the buyer and tell expressvu the name of the buyer, so bell can put it on file so that the buyer can activate them when they add them to their account. There are no fee's to d/c your service as long as your not under a contract. Bell has no return policy. You should have no problem selling privately or on ebay. I believe that $35 fee only applies if the used IRD is activated on a new account as the sole IRD.

And a 6000 for $70? You can get $300 plus for them!!!

I said 6000...now I know why you are unaware of many things at EVu...

The 6000 did not start selling at $299 either...

I know you said 6000, i'm not dumb, altought are you "**** the BEV agents" liek to insult us all the time. Personnaly not aware of the 6000 cost since they were not sold anymore when I entered BEV. They are older model than the 6100 so I doubt that you could get that 300$, if you could, go for it! Just call us to let us know so that the client could activate it

ebay pricing is dependant on the card and hackability of the receiver.

I am canceling service in a few weeks.

I don't belive so as most clients are not aware that there would be new receivers out...and I belive that 9200 will still be usable.

If a client could now sell a 2700 you can most probably sell you 9200. Be sure to call us to put a note on the account so client could activate it

I already canceled a week ago, so receiver should be good to go in a few weeks time.

Yep, bought mine for $800 and the DN6000 c/w 8PSK for $1100.

Sold the Bev unit a short while ago for $500.
It had a ROM 3, but I think the fellow might have wanted to hack it.

Pretty fair return on investment.
I guess their is some upside to the piracy problem, as least as far as my pocket book is concerned, resale of course, not because of programming costs or not.

For someone that complains about Bell's piracy problem as much as you do, it's surprising you had no problem contributing to it. Anyone willing to pay $500 for such an old receiver is obviously going to do something nefarious with it.

I didn't ask and I don't care, that entirely between the buyer and his conscience.

But how is this transaction any different with the price of some used cell phones going for serveral hundreds of dollars when a new one is < $100??

The difference is that the higher priced ones comes with NO strings attached.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't a new Bell discounted package tie you into a long term contract?

And an existing subs or new subs WITH equipment are not bound by such entanglements?

Actually he called back to complain that Bell wanted some $$ for a new N2 access card since the ROM 3 was no good and he figured as do I that If you're subbing, the card ought to be free, so your assumption was incorrect.
